Master of a fantastic and fascinating world, Charles Burns has never hidden his passion for the comics of the 50s. Inspired by this often romantic aesthetic, the author of Daedalus has had fun creating a collection of fictional comic book covers in which he integrates elements from his own strange and organic universe.
In Caprice, he unveils about thirty unpublished illustrations thought as many potential books. The strength of his drawings offers a multitude of interpretations, and suggests to the reader to imagine the story that follows from each image. This series is a condensed version of the themes that run through his work: adolescence, metamorphosis, nightmares and sexuality, which are all pretexts for the creation of mysterious and bewitching imagery.
